Edit About Info

Established: 2005

Overview: DuckEye was set up early 2005 after Jey Malaiperuman and Kate Freeland had worked together creating visuals for live music. They were able to experiment with different techniques, incorporating stop frame animation, digital video and computer graphics in order to discover new ways of creating a moving image.

Kate studied sculpture at the Slade and started work as a director, editor and cameraman. Jey studied Sonic Arts at Middlesex University and began as a sound and digital media designer. "When we are DuckEye we draw on this variety of skills and ways of creating and discover original and innovative ways of working".

Duckeye's first promo; 'One Generation Wall' for The Fallout Trust, was made in two weeks on a budget of £200. The lack of funds forced them to find easily accessible ways to shoot the promo that didn't involve hiring in lights and studio time. So they made black and white printouts of the band, a cardboard model set and used desk lamps and torches for lights. This produced a unique aesthetic that has paved the way for more projects.

Over the last year they have worked with Sigur Ros, Leaves, Zero 7, Clayhill, MTV, Josh Pyke and continue to collaborate with The Fallout Trust as a film wing producing artwork and promos.
