TAPELIST is an opt-in service for filmmakers, distributors, exhibitors, media and film-goers.
Launched in January 2003 with promotions at the Sundance Film Festival, the service has quickly garnered attention after six months of development and partnerships with indieWIRE.
With an infrastructure in place, the service has served Academy Award, Emmy and IFP Independent Spirit nominated/awarded directors and projects.
TAPELIST has also been the home to discover emerging filmmakers for agencies, festivals and exclusive content for distributors.
To submit through TAPELIST, filmmakers, or their respective representation should apply online to see if TAPELIST is right for there project. Industry can apply online to receive mailings at no charge, and film-goers are eligible for email listings. The core service is the TAPELIST videotape mailing, received by industry as and acquisition/exhibition source.
Each cassette contains five trailers for titles available for distribution, and occasional, high profile shorts. If a distributor, exhibitor, media or other opt-in partner is interested in a title, they can contact the filmmaker, there representation or TAPELIST for more information, to setup a screening or receive a screener. Tapes are curated thematically, by market-interest and genre for appropriate, effective compilations. Each compilation is promoted as its own edition to our distribution, exhibition and media partners, who can then request to follow-ups on any titles which interest them.
With generally solid response rates, TAPELIST is great way to promote a film without sending unsolicited screeners. In addition, titles submitted through the appropriate package will also be included in promotional dispatches - colorful, graphic based versions of TAPELIST which include film stills and information. These are received electronically by industry not receiving video mailings at no extra cost.
