Festival Name: Big Island Film Festival
Location: Waikoloa, HI, United States
May 12-16, 2010 marks the fifth year of Big Island Film Festival on the Kohala coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. This “Talk Story” film festival is a celebration of independent narrative filmmakers and their short and feature films.
Venues that celebrate the beauty of our island and free parking for our guests are an annual goal. The daytime films are scheduled into the Honu Theater, inside facilities to maximize comfort. The family film venue, Ohana Theater, and the Festival Theater, for general films with ratings through “R”, are both placed in outdoor locations to take advantage of the beautiful starry skies. Social events are located within the sponsoring facilities. The Best of the Fest on Sunday afternoon and evening is located at the Festival Theater site.
Our focus remains on independent narrative filmmakers and only independent narrative films will be eligible for Golden Honu Awards. We have opened a few time slots for narrative movies with distribution in order to bring in recognizable filmmakers and actors, whose insights can be valuable for the independent narrative filmmakers in attendance.
