Established: 1996
Location: New York, NY, United States
Overview:
The Gen Art Film Festival is an amazing week of premieres that spotlight the most talented emerging filmmakers in North America. Offering a multi-genre slate of 14 exhilarating films, seven shorts and seven features, the festival is attended by tastemaker film-lovers, critics and industry professionals. Each screening is followed by an after-party at one of New York's most exclusive nightspots where filmmakers receive the VIP treatment and have the opportunity to mix and mingle with their audience.
Our mission is to give filmmakers and attendees the best possible festival experience right in the heart of New York City. By showcasing only one short and one feature each night, we focus all of the festival's energy, on a nightly basis, towards granting our audience access to some of the freshest, most captivating emerging voices on the festival circuit.
Since its creation in 1996, Gen Art has had the pleasure of introducing our audience to a multitude of cutting-edge directors including Cary Fukunaga, Brad Anderson, Adrienne Shelly, Richard Shepard, The Duplass Brothers, Alex Holdridge, Brian Dannelly, Four Eyed Monsters, Azazel Jacobs, The Martini Brothers, Michael Skolnik & Paola Mendoza, Austin Chick, George Ratliff, Ari Gold, Tim Blake Nelson, Kevin Bacon, Fisher Stevens and Alan Cumming.
The festival provides access for any film lover to experience a red carpet movie premiere like a true insider, as all tickets provide admission to both the premiere and after-party with cast and filmmakers in attendance. In 2010 we celebrate our 15th Anniversary, which promises to be our biggest year ever. Don’t miss your chance to see the next legends of independent film as they kick off their careers in front of the sexiest audience on the planet.
