Festival Name: Miami Short Film Festival (MsFF)
Location: Miami, FL, United States
The 8th Annual Miami Short Film Festival will run from November 13-22st 2009, at the Bill Cosford Cinema in Coral Gables and other area theaters still to be announced.
Categories accepted are: Animation, Documentary, Experimental, Narrative, and a new category for 2009, Environmental.
Recognizing a responsibility to support the local film community, south Florida produced films, submitted to any of the four categories, are automatically considered for nomination to a special Best of Local category. As an incentive, the Best of Local category winner will be automatically nominated for the Best of Festival award and can win the grand-prize.
As an international film festival, films produced outside of the United States are automatically considered for nomination to the Best Foreign category. The winner of this category is also automatically nominated for the Best of Festival award.
In 2008, partnerships with the University of Miami School of Communication, Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and The Miami Mayor’s Office of Film & Cultural Affairs strengthened the festival’s visibility contributing to its many sold-out screenings.
Founded by CEO William Vela in 2001, The Miami Short Film Festival, a 501c3 non-profit organization, is produced by Miami-based Velart Productions.
