On Saturday, March 15, at the Filmapalooza, the 48 Hour Film Project's annual awards ceremony, the winners of the Best of the 48 Hour Film Project were announced. The winner for the Best Film award is Fat Cat Films, for their film, "Transfert". This team won the Paris competition, which has a $5000 cash prize. On the weekend of March 13th, filmmaking teams from around the world gathered for the 8th Annual Filmapalooza, at the Miami International Film Festival. The invited filmmakers won the 48HFP timed filmmaking competitions in their cities and were in competition to be named the Best Film of the 2008 48 Hour Film Project, which comes with a $5,000 cash prize. The 48 Hour Film Project is the world’s largest extreme film competition, with a tour that goes to 70 cities on 4 continents, including Athens, Mumbai, Paris and Sydney. In the 48HFP, participating teams are given a genre, a character, prop, and a line of dialogue that they must work into their film. Teams are responsible for putting together a cast and crew as well as securing equipment, locations and costumes and have then 48 hours to complete a 7-minute film.
