Over the past ten years, writer, director and producer, Adrian McDowall has amassed over 50 national and international awards and nominations for his short films, documentaries, TV dramas, commercials and promos; including two BAFTAS an RTS award and a nomination for XFM Music video of the year.
His films have screened worldwide at hundreds of International Film Festivals including; Sundance, Hot Docs, EIFF, London, Berlin, LA, New York, Russia and Toronto.
His first short film "Who's My Favourite Girl?" features on the Cinema16 "Best Of British" DVD alongside short films by Ridley Scott, Christoper Nolan, Stephen Daldry and Mike Leigh.
He has directed dramas for ITV and the BBC with budgets ranging from 50k – 750k and commercials for clients such as the UK and Scottish Government, Irn Bru and Waste Aware Scotland.
In February 2009 he was selected by Lars Von Trier’s Zentropa and Gillian Berrie’s Sigma Films, as one of eight award winning first-time feature film-makers for the new feature film collective Advance Party II.
Following on from the success of Advance Party, which produced Cannes Jury Prize Winner Red Road, the filmmakers have devised their own dogme style rules and are currently writing their feature film scripts, which will be produced over the next two years.
In June 2009 he was selected by Screen International as one of their "Stars of Tomorrow".
For the past four years he has also lectured at ECA / NAPIER Scotland’s Screen Academy.
