Amanda read philosophy at St. John's College, Cambridge. After graduating she worked at Working Title Films where she helped set up their low budget film label WT² and later developed a slate of films for producer Jon Finn, with whom she worked with on Billy Elliot.
Following her first short film, ID magazine picked Amanda for their 250th edition as one of 250 people around the world who might influence future contemporary culture. She was also described by Screen International as "one of the UK's most exciting new directors."
Amanda has since been selected by Channel 4 to direct a film for their Coming Up scheme, attended the Inside Pictures Film Business Programme, received a scholarship from the David Lean Foundation to take a bespoke directing course at the National Film School and won the 2008 Clore Leadership Programme Film Fellowship.
In 2009, Amanda began work on 'Do Or Die' by Jack Thorne and Daniel Bronzite, as well as directing 'Cast Offs', for Eleven Films and Channel 4.
