Nicholson joined the industry in 1983, is a trained and highly experienced, has been a Director since 1990 and Writer/Director since 1995. He started his career at the BBC, moved to ITV, left to run his own production company for five years until becoming fully freelance as a Writer/Director in 2000. Nicholson's time is currently devoted to developing "Manfred", a 35 mm feature film he will direct from a script he has also written.
In his 18 years as a Director, Nicholson has shot professionally on nearly every format available in both film and videotape, and has made numerous commercials for both cinema and television as well as short films, music videos, corporate videos, programms, live TV, interstitialI programming, programme trailers, title sequences and informercials.
Nicholson is primarily an actor's Director. His particular strengths are his ability to write and direct material that is built on narrative and character (in both comedy and drama), his ability to work with Actors, his ability to create stylish and effective visuals and the many years of training he has received.
Nicholson's most prestigious role as Commercials Director thus far was a nationwide Cinema commercial campaign for British Airways. This was screened across the United Kingdom for two years running.
Nicholson also has a long history of running actors workshop for both professional Actors and Drama Students eager to hone their skills of working to camera.
Having a detailed understanding of the latest technology available to Filmmakers, Nicholson was the first in the UK to direct a live action Cinema and Television Commercial created in a virtual studio, as well as the first to use digital cinematography to create a Cinema Commercial.
