The actors were the trees in his backyard and he pretended they were having a dialogue, filming them the way he thought Blake Edwards would have done in the Pink Panther movies he was watching at the time. A few years later he would discover films like ‘Delicatessen’, ‘Eraserhead’ and ‘Manhattan’. They, among others, inspired him join the ranks of a medium that could do and say so much.
