A native of the provence region of France, Frederic acted professionally in stage productions around France before moving to the United States at age nineteen. While working in the information technology industry Frederic directed and produced two documentaries, 'Amazing Journey,' about aspiring musical theater performers in Hawaii and 'Six String Man' about homeless street musicians in San Francisco.
In 2001 he decided to pursue a filmmaking career full-time and founded Lumiere Media, a film and video production company. Since then he has written, directed, and produced many projects, including another documentary entitled 'Fade In: Leonardo', commercials and children's programs. His recent credits also include the short films 'Pauly', 'Hotel Room', and 'The Trap' and executive producer on the indie film 'The Strange Case of Carl Weber: A Vampire in America'. Given his background, it is no surprise that Frederic is also very involved in the technical aspects of high definition video production. When HDV was introduced to the market, Frederic and his team partnered with Apple Computers, Inc. to develop Lumiere HD, a software solution that allowed editors to edit HDV on the Mac platform. Lumiere HD continues to be the leading solution for editing the latest formats on Final Cut Pro.
He was also instrumental to the creation of the RED Digital Cinema camera, which promises to revolutionize digital filmmaking in 2007. He frequently speaks about HD Production and Post Production at tradeshows such as Macworld, NAB, and DV Expo and for private groups.
