An award-winning Director of Photography, Jendra Jarnagin is best known for her vast digital cinema experience and is an in-demand panelist and speaker at tradeshows and industry conferences worldwide. Jendra is always experimenting with new cameras and techniques and was among the first DPs in the world to shoot with the Red One camera, as well as the first of it's kind Viper Filmstream camera, and Sony's CineAlta F23. Experienced in Visual Effects shooting, she has also explored shooting 3D and other special venue films such as a "full dome" movie for planetarium exhibition, shot on the Phantom HD and Vista Vision film formats. Despite her reputation as a digital pioneer, Jendra has been shooting film for over 16 years, and it remains her favorite medium.
Jendra has been interviewed by American Cinematographer magazine for her work on the ground breaking TV series for the web 'Puppy Love', from the writers and producers of 'Sex & the City', on which Jendra formerly worked as an electrician. The Webby Award winner for Best Comedic Series (and nominee for Best Writing) stars Famke Janssen, Kristen Johnson, Ally Sheedy, Dan Hedaya, and many TV veterans. Other recent projects include the feature film 'Split Ends', directed by the Emmy Award winning Dorothy Lyman and starring Vincent Pastore, as well as several commercials and promos.
Jendra began shooting at the age of twelve as a member of a public access youth program, and by age fifteen knew her calling in life was to be an artist and work as a cinematographer. She attended NYU film school, and mastered the craft of lighting while working as a gaffer and electrician for nearly a decade while continuing to build her DP career. Jendra is married to Steadicam/Camera Operator Alec Jarnagin. She is based in NY and LA and travel is her passion second only to filmmaking.
