Gifted actors performing in silly situations.

This is probably one of the funniest movies ever to play at the NYC Horror Film Festival. If I didn’t know better I’d say this was a short clip from a Christopher Guest comedy. Like Guest’s great improv comedies (Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show), Non-Abductees Anonymous has gifted actors performing in silly situations.
The movie is about a support group for people who have never been abducted by aliens. (“My name is Ivan and I have never been abducted by aliens.”) The group members go through several exercises to help them cope with their non-abductions, like running a gauntlet while being beaten by people in alien costumes, or asking the questions that keep them up at night. (“Why didn’t you pick ME? What’s wrong with ME?”)
David Fincher proved that support group meetings can be cinematically thrilling. Non-Abductees Anonymous isn’t on the same level as Fight Club, but there ARE a few cool shots of the non-abductees in a field at night. This is a hilarious deadpan comedy.
