You’ll begin by focusing on the world of print and 2D design – marketing collateral, publishing, environmental design, product design, and much more – before moving on to sharpen your skills in interactive media. Although this is a relatively new area in the design industry, digital and interactive media design skills are increasingly integral for successful designers; this online degree program teaches you how to implement your ideas across websites, interactive presentations, and other design projects that utilize the connective capabilities of today’s technology.

Digital graphics have expanded the storytelling possibilities of entertainment media, and Full Sail University’s online Computer Animation Bachelor’s Degree Program allows you to get the education you need to become an innovator in this field from anywhere in the world.

Our online curriculum focuses on the creative and technical needs of the professional computer animation industry – offering you an in-depth study of the latest software, design theory, and production techniques used to create 3D computer graphics for feature films, video games, television, and more.

Your education will start by studying the basic theories of digital art – including lighting, physics, and the principles of motion, and how they apply to different animation mediums. Further classes will build on that foundation by teaching the processes of advanced animation development, from character design and rigging to compositing and scene finishing. You’ll also learn to create high-end graphics for video games, with classes that teach how to optimize textures and polygons for different hardware.

Near the end of the online degree, you’ll take portfolio creation courses that will help showcase your personal vision and knowledge of different animation techniques to employers. You’ll bring together highlights from your projects throughout the Computer Animation Degree Program and incorporate them into a polished demo reel; our instructors will help you showcase your best work, while tailoring it to the area of the animation industry in which you want to pursue your career.

The Film program prepares students to become competitive in the professional film and post-production job markets. Covering each step of the filmmaking process from the script to the silver screen, the program puts students in each role of the production pipeline as they create their own films. Working in our multiple soundstages, and backlot, you’ll master the latest techniques used in film production, editing, visual special effects, sound, lighting, and set design.

Our Film curriculum is built around actual industry workflow, so you learn your way around a set while you’re in school. You’ll plan productions, write scripts, create storyboards, and learn how to shoot on a variety of cameras – 16mm, 35mm, HD, and more – and in a variety of styles. You’ll build sets (and break them down) on spacious soundstages and shoot on our studio backlot, hold casting calls, work on the actors’ make-up, and create special effects to enhance your films. Then, when the film is in the can, you’ll edit, work on visual effects, polish the sound, and prepare the film for viewing on the big screen.

In addition to film production, you’ll also learn photography, HD broadcast production, production budgeting, and lighting, as well as general career development skills in communication, personal finance, presentation, film history, how to market your productions, and how to prepare yourself for your first step into the film industry.
